Connecting with the school community

"Nikki shows a lot of initiative participating in meetings with parents and other staff members" (Stacey Micallef, Knox Park Primary School, 2014)

"Nikki has successfully involved herself in a range of school community events including Year 5/6 Camp and the school Open Night" (Stacey Micallef, Knox Park Primary School, 2014)

Throughout my teaching experience I have ensured an active involvement within the community, where I have participated in a large range of activities. These experiences are highly important in developing a positive relationship with students and parents within the school community and I believe they will assist me greatly. I have actively involved myself in a broad range of school events across all year levels including;

  • Assisting and preparing Prep PMP sessions at Wantirna South Primary School and Wooranna Park Primary School

  • Attending and facilitating Open Night at Knox Park Primary School

  • Directing students to and from the stage and liaising with staff and helpers throughout the night at the Gladesville Primary School and Knox Park Primary School productions

  • Participating at the Gladesville Primary School Father’s Day Breakfast.

  • Excursions

    • Edendale Farm (Sustainability) with Grade 5/6’s from Knox Park Primary School

    • Melbourne Zoo with Grade 1/2’s from Pinewood Primary School

    • Myruna Farm with Grade 1 and 2 students at Regency Park Primary School

These experiences are highly important in developing a positive relationship with students and parents within the community. These experiences along with my dynamic contribution to the structured activities demonstrate my commitment to engage in an array of activities all within the classroom, whole school and wider community

Meetings with parents, carers, staff or students should be:

  • Experience with students in a different learning environment

  • Lead a group of students with my mentor through the excursion
